--deleted Costume competition 2025 (by FanAsia)

The costume competition is intended for all costume enthusiasts - cosplayers, larpists, fans of historical fashion or other creative souls. Children can also participate in the competition. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or an experienced competitor. The goal is to have fun and show off your creativity. The competition also includes a costume parade - this is just a short costume parade in front of the audience (no scenes, just a demonstration of the costume and its presentation to the audience - you don't have to be so stressed about performing).

Rules

  • Registration for the competition will take place until April 18, 2025. It is also possible to participate in the competition on the spot however, the number of places is limited, so we recommend to register if you don't want to wait and want to come on a specific time. The exact time of costume judging will be announced before the festival. Registered contestants will receive information by email.
  • You can only participate in the competition with a self-made costume (at least 30% must be self-made). A custom made costumes by someone else or purchased costumes are prohibited. Original costumes, cosplay, historical or larp costumes are allowed.
  • The competitor can send the competition organizers all the basic data in the application form:
    - cosplayers are advised to attach a photo of the character. If you created the original costume without an inspiration image, you do not need to supply it.
    - we recommend supplying documentation / photos of the production to facilitate the evaluation, it is not mandatory, but it can be taken into account in the evaluation.
  • The contestants can participate with costume from other competition, but the condion is that they didn't win any prize with it in Slovakia or they didn’t participate with it in previous years of the SlavCon Costume Contest.
  • Costumes can not contain dangerous objects (e.g., any weapons, which could be considered functional). Self-made weapon props (from wood, paper, foam, etc.) are allowed at your own risk.
  • Costumes should be appropriate for minor viewers, so no nudity and vulgarisms.
  • Genderswaps and anthropomorphizing of non-human beings and objects (see moe gijinka) are allowed.
  • The winner is chosen by the jury. The contestant is obliged to appear for the jury's evaluation (about 10 minutes long) at the specified time. Don't worry about the jury, they won't bite. :) They will ask you how you made the costume and what was your inspiration.
  • Jury evaluates the quality of the costume, originality or accuracy and difficulty of the costume.  The jury selects the winner in 3 categories:
    - an original costume (a costume according to your imagination or your own version of an existing character, e.g. a steampunk Jedi, a Dory ball gown, an original historical dress or a larp costume...),
    - cosplay (costume according to the template),
    - jury award,
    - children's costume - children under 12 years old will be evaluated separately.
  • The contestant must appear on the costume promenade - they will walk around the stage, during which the moderator will present their costume, or a fun fact about the costume that you provided in your application (participants registered on site will add this information during the jury evaluation).
